Red Dates and Goji Berries Drink

Goji berries 枸杞子 and red dates 紅棗 (jujubes) are a powerful combination that's been used in Chinese medicine for centuries. This spectacular duo is known to improve liver function, blood circulation (particularly for females) and treat insomnia. For most Chinese medicine, the brewing process could take hours for the potency of the herbs to fully infuse but we find this method is far simpler and doesn't compromise the nutritional value. 

This is perfect for people with hectic schedules - just double the ingredients below and throw it in a thermos flask before you head out for the day. The drink should be enjoyed hot and it should have a very slight sweetness to it. And of course, the berries and dates can also be eaten.

Gluten-free

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp goji berries
  • 1-2 red date(s), halved
  • 2-3 slices of ginger
  • Honey, rock sugar or brown sugar to taste (optional)

What to do:

  1. Place all the ingredients in a a mug with a lid (or a thermos flask)
  2. Fill with boiling water
  3. Let it brew for 15 minutes then enjoy
